Which tile completes the grid?

Tap the option you think is right, or show the answer.

Show the answer

The missing tile has three solid circles (option 1).

How to solve it

  1. Start with the first column and name what changes from tile to tile.
  2. Across each column the shape goes square, star and circle, the same in every column.
  3. Each column has its own number of shapes: one in the first column, two in the second column, three in the third column.
  4. The fill (solid) stays the same in every tile.
  5. Check the rules on the second column, then apply them to the third.
  6. So the missing tile has three solid circles.

About this puzzle

Easy grids pair a progression (a count or size that grows across each row) with a shape that stays the same within each row. It was generated by the same engine that builds the IQ Octopus test, from a fixed seed, so it stays the same every time you visit. In the real test, items like this are generated fresh for every attempt.
