Tap the option you think is right, or show the answer.

Show the answer

The missing panel shows a small hatched square, with small solid shapes: a diamond at the top-right corner and a diamond at the bottom (option 3).

How to solve it

  1. Compare the first two panels and name exactly what changed.
  2. The main shape and the small shapes swap forms: the main shape takes the form of the small ones, and the small ones take the form of the main shape.
  3. Nothing else changes.
  4. Apply the same change to the third panel: a small hatched diamond, with small solid shapes: a square at the top-right corner and a square at the bottom.
  5. So the missing panel shows a small hatched square, with small solid shapes: a diamond at the top-right corner and a diamond at the bottom.

About this puzzle

Medium analogies add the shape swap, where the main shape and the small shapes trade forms, sometimes together with a second change. It was generated by the same engine that builds the IQ Octopus test, from a fixed seed, so it stays the same every time you visit. In the real test, items like this are generated fresh for every attempt.
