Which tile completes the second pair?

Tap the option you think is right, or show the answer.

Show the answer

The missing panel shows a small hatched triangle pointing left, with small solid shapes: a square at the left side (option 1).

How to solve it

  1. Compare the first two panels and name exactly what changed.
  2. The whole figure turns a quarter turn counterclockwise.
  3. The large shape becomes hatched.
  4. Nothing else changes.
  5. Apply the same changes to the third panel: a small solid triangle pointing up, with small solid shapes: a square at the top.
  6. So the missing panel shows a small hatched triangle pointing left, with small solid shapes: a square at the left side.

About this puzzle

Medium analogies add the shape swap, where the main shape and the small shapes trade forms, sometimes together with a second change. It was generated by the same engine that builds the IQ Octopus test, from a fixed seed, so it stays the same every time you visit. In the real test, items like this are generated fresh for every attempt.
